What is CrossFit?
At CrossFit Richardson, our coaches combine strength training, olympic lifting, and gymnastics in ever-changing combinations. We prepare the body for just about anything life throws at you and we do this in a fun community setting. At our box, you’ll find a great workout, friendly competition, and never-ending support. Constant variation means changing your workout every time. For true fitness, routine is the enemy. CrossFit mixes weight training, gymnastics, and endurance in as many combinations as possible. This results in fitness that gets you ready for anything in the real world.
High Intensity as defined by CrossFit is how fast you get real work done. The more work you can do in less time increases power. The more power you can do the harder it is and also yields the best results. High intensity workouts are the most efficient form of training since they develop the body’s three major energy systems and increase our metabolism, our endurance, and our lean muscle mass.
We focus on movements that will prepare you for life. Squatting, running, jumping, throwing, pulling, and picking up things are what our bodies were meant to do. These movements yield the best results for strength and are so much more effective for life outside the gym.
Scalability allows us to modify the workout of the day (WOD) to a member’s age, experience, or athletic ability. Many of our members join CFR to get in shape and at first will not be able to complete the prescribed workout or movements. Using a systematic approach to scaling down, we modify each member’s workout to best suit his or her needs.
How Do I Start?
Join CrossFit Richardson by signing up for a plan here. You will most likely need to attend a 2-hour Basics Class before coming to regular CrossFit classes. This class is designed to introduce the movements and workouts we do in CrossFit on a daily basis as well as introduce the foundations of living a healthy and active lifestyle.
